Alice Cohen, MA
I am a Master’s level clinician at Old Town Psychology pursing my doctorate at American University's Clinical Psychology Ph.D. program.
I strive to create a collaborative, accepting environment, in which we work together to reach your goals. I primarily take a cognitive behavioral therapy approach, while also incorporating elements of mindfulness, acceptance and commitment, and interpersonal therapy approaches. It is important to me to honor and integrate your culture, beliefs, and identity as part of the therapeutic process. My primary areas of specialty include anxiety, depression, sleep disorders, and interpersonal difficulties in children and adults. When conducting psychological assessments, I aim to provide a supportive and encouraging atmosphere for all clients.
In addition to my clinical experience, I have served as an instructor to graduate and undergraduate students, teaching courses in psychological research and psychological disorders. My research interests include sleep disturbances and the effects of depression on interpersonal relationships.
