Elizabeth Watts, MA

I am a clinician at Old Town Psychology and a Doctoral candidate in Clinical Psychology at the George Washington University.

My approach to therapy is unique and individualized for each client, however, I tend to think primarily from a relational, psychodynamic orientation. This means that I believe the relationship between the therapist and client can be inherently valuable and that it can be a tool for developing insight about other relationships as well. Therefore, ensuring a therapeutic relationship built on trust, authenticity, and mutual collaboration is my first priority.

I also have extensive experience working from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy approaches. I previously specialized in eating disorder treatment and continue to feel especially interested in eating and body image concerns. Other areas of focus include anxiety, depression, relationship concerns, couples therapy, trauma, grief, understanding/affirming neurodivergence, and processing identity issues through a Liberation Psychology lens.

I also provide assessments to both children and adults to clarify differential diagnosis, foster deeper self-understanding, or seek academic accommodations.
