Dr. Tara Agneshwar

I am a licensed clinical psychologist at Old Town Psychology. I have worked with adults across the lifespan, and have extensive training in grief, bereavement, and meaning-centered psychotherapy. I also conduct psychological and cognitive assessments. I am also passionate about working with minority-identifying individuals, including members of the LGBTQ+ community and clients with diverse cultural backgrounds. I aim to create a warm, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where each client can build insight and work collaboratively to reach their identified goals.

I received my Psy.D from Yeshiva University in the Bronx, NY. I competed my doctoral internship at the Syracuse VA Medical Center, and my postdoctoral fellowship at the Washington DC VA Medical Center. Throughout my graduate training, I worked at the Yale Department of Neurology, the Parnes Clinic, New York Presbyterian’s Westchester Behavioral Health Center, and the National Institute for the Psychotherapies. I am a certified provider in Cognitive Processing Therapy, and have experience working with individuals, groups, and couples.

I tend to work from an interpersonal and relational approach, and believe that a strong therapeutic relationship based in trust and safety is extremely important. Therapy can feel intimidating or overwhelming, and I will bring humor and authenticity into each session to help you feel comfortable and safe. My goal is to help you identify what is meaningful in your life, and work alongside you each step of the way to reconnect with and restore that sense of purpose.
